Decoiler Parameters Explained: Load, Width and Coil Size Guide

In stamping automation, the Decoiler is used to support and unwind coil materials, providing continuous material supply for the Straightener, Feeder, and Stamping Press. Choosing a suitable Decoiler requires more than checking the machine model or appearance. The actual production requirements, including coil weight, material width, coil size, material thickness, and running speed, need to be considered.

For customers purchasing a Decoiler, understanding these main parameters can help select the right equipment and ensure better cooperation with the stamping production line.

Load Capacity: Matching the Coil Weight

Load capacity refers to the maximum weight of the coil that the Decoiler can support.

Different products require different coil specifications. Small hardware parts may use lighter coils, while automotive parts, appliance components, and larger metal products often require heavier coil materials for continuous stamping.

When selecting a Decoiler, customers need to confirm the actual coil weight, including material thickness, width, and outer diameter. The equipment capacity should match the production requirements to ensure stable operation of the mandrel, frame, and transmission system.

Jinzhide provides different types of Decoilers according to application requirements, including light duty, medium duty, and heavy duty models, which can be used for hardware stamping, appliance parts, automotive components, and other metal processing applications.

Material Width and Coil Size Selection

Material width refers to the width range of coils that the Decoiler can handle.

The coil width is usually determined by the size of the stamped product. Narrow coils are commonly used for small components, while wider coils are used for larger parts.

The Decoiler width should also match the following Straightener and Feeder equipment. In a complete stamping line, the coil needs to move smoothly from the Decoiler to the Straightener and then into the Stamping Press through the Feeder.

Coil inner diameter and outer diameter are also important parameters during equipment selection.

The inner diameter refers to the size of the coil center hole. The Decoiler uses an expanding mandrel to hold the coil during operation, so the expansion range needs to match the actual coil specification.

The outer diameter determines the maximum coil size that can be installed on the machine. A larger coil diameter allows more material to be loaded, reducing the frequency of coil changes during production.

Material Thickness and Machine Configuration

Applicable material thickness refers to the range of metal thickness that the Decoiler can process.

Different materials and thicknesses require different machine structures. Thin materials are often used for electronic components, electrical products, and small hardware parts, while thicker materials are commonly used for automotive parts and structural components.

The main function of the Decoiler is coil unwinding and material supply. The Straightener is responsible for correcting material flatness before feeding. Therefore, when selecting a complete coil processing system, customers need to consider material thickness, material strength, and Stamping Press requirements together.

Common materials processed by Decoilers include cold rolled steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper strip, and high strength steel. Different materials require suitable equipment combinations to achieve stable production.

Unwinding Speed and Production Matching

Unwinding speed refers to the running speed of the Decoiler during material release.

In an automatic stamping line, the Decoiler works together with the Straightener, Feeder, and Stamping Press. The unwinding speed needs to match the production cycle to maintain smooth material supply.

According to different production requirements, Decoilers can be equipped with speed adjustment systems to control material release. Some automatic lines also use sensing devices to detect material loop conditions and control the start and stop of the Decoiler.

Decoiler in Automatic Stamping Lines

A Decoiler is usually used together with a Straightener and Feeder to form a complete coil feeding system.

During production, the coil is installed on the Decoiler mandrel and expanded for positioning. The coil is then unwound and sent to the Straightener section, where multiple rollers adjust the material flatness. After that, the Feeder sends the material into the Stamping Press according to the stamping cycle.

For factories with limited space, a Decoiler Straightener Feeder can combine decoiling, straightening, and feeding functions into one machine. This design helps reduce equipment layout space and simplifies the connection between machines.

When choosing a Decoiler, the suitable model is determined by actual production conditions rather than simply selecting a larger specification. Coil weight, material width, thickness, Stamping Press tonnage, and production speed should all be considered.

A properly matched Decoiler can work together with the entire stamping system and provide stable material supply for continuous production.
